Urban Homesteading:
Where the Light of Christ Shines
Empowering individuals and communities to thrive—spiritually, physically, and practically—through Christ-centered teaching in biblical nutrition, adult literacy, and sustainable homesteading practices. Whether at home or on the mission field, this ministry is committed to planting seeds of hope, healing, and purpose where they’re needed most.
A homesteader is someone living in the wilderness who learns to thrive on the resources God has provided. That’s the focus of this ministry, to help people in the wilderness of a lost world learn how to navigate and thrive with the available resources.
Both your soul and your body need prosperity, growth, and maturity. In these pages you will find golden nuggets through which the light of Christ shines.
Jesus said, “I wish that you may prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2.

Meet Linda Crocilla:
Linda Crocilla’s life has been transformed by the healing power of Jesus. Once burdened by pain and chronic illness, her journey of miraculous healing has led her to serve others through faith, biblical nutrition, and homesteading. Her message is simple: God’s love is unconditional, and His healing is real.
“I think the single most important thing in my life happened back in 1991. Although at the time I was an unbeliever, I experienced a supernatural instantaneous healing from rheumatoid arthritis. God’s mercy in healing my body convinced me that He is not just a hopeful figment of our imaginations. He is literally real, He loves us, and He wants to be a part of our lives.”
“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:8
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Revelation 3:20
“A bowl of rice is no substitute for the Holy Spirit.”

The Mission
I was 100% disabled with lupus and fibromyalgia. After my husband Joe died, I lived 7 years on $400 per month below the National Poverty Level. God used this time to teach me how to be frugal and learn to prosper with what He had given me. Economically, when your expenses are greater than your income there are only two choices. Earn more money or spend less. Earning more money may not be an option. So how does one spend less and provide for their family? Dehydrating foods when you find a bargain and container gardening to get multiple crops from one plant are just two examples. There are many ways to cut corners and still provide quality food for your family. Among other things, I teach Grocery Shopping 101 and alternatives to expensive store-bought items. By teaching people how to effectively use the resources God gave them, they can learn to draw closer to the Lord and rely on Him for every aspect of their lives.
While in Wales, I will be serving at Rumney Chapel in Cardiff. Along with administrative duties in the church and outreach to youth, I will serve as a Relational Missionary; someone who embodies Christ’s model of ministry by intentionally building deep personal relationships with people to lead them to God and foster spiritual growth, rather than relying on programs or strategies alone. My first priority is to make myself known to my new neighbors, care enough about them to find out their needs, and help them find ways of meeting those needs. Loving hospitality is the key.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
– Matthew 28:19-20
Why Wales?
Linda never saw herself as a missionary. But through prayer, divine dreams, and repeated confirmations, God made it clear: her mission was not short-term. It was full-time. And it was in Wales.
After learning about the spiritual drought in Merthyr Tydfil—an area riddled with poverty, addiction, and generational hopelessness—Linda’s heart broke for a people who don’t know Christ. Despite Wales’ Christian history, only 3% of the population are practicing believers today.
“All I know is that I will devote my life to His service.”
I first saw this picture years before I ever thought about being a missionary. It has haunted me ever since.
When I see someone in danger, what should I do? Just shrug and walk away? Hope for the best? Or reach out and try to pull them from danger? What would you do?
Just before my first trip to Wales, my church prayed a “sending” prayer for me. As we prayed, someone said the term “First Responder” kept coming up in her mind. And yes, I realize that God has made me a First Responder. As a missionary, I may be the first or only person who tries to pull that lost soul out of the flames.
Wales was once on fire for the Lord, but over time something was lost. People have learned to accept and live the lie. There are nearly three generations of lost souls in Wales who are desperately in need of the Lord.
